Cortnee Vine visit

It is one thing to get the chance to meet your idol, it’s another thing completely to be able to play alongside her! Fresh from her FIFA Women's World Cup heroics, this week St Catherine’s School welcomed Matildas and Sydney FC superstar Cortnee Vine to the school. Speaking at our Year 12 Blues Breakfast, Cortnee left our Year 12s motivated and inspired by sharing what it took to break through expectations and get to her level, as well as how it feels to be an active part of the changing landscape of women's sport. The entire junior and senior school then came alive with the sound of cheers of appreciation as Cortnee joined our Year 6s on the field, as they lined up against St Cath’s Senior First Football team. In what was a thrilling game, our Year 6, helped ever so slightly by a national sporting hero, showed our senior girls a thing or two, taking home bragging rights and a memory that will last a lifetime. We are blessed that our girls are growing up with icons like Cortnee. By paving the way for a generation of young women and girls not only at St Cath’s but across the country, they have changed the future of sport forever. We will never be able to thank them enough. |
